Talking with Paige Tyler!
1.              When did you decide to become a writer?  Why?
I’ve always loved writing. I’ve done it since I was a young kid. In fact, my first stories involved my family cats, and the adventures they had. When I was a kid, I assumed all cats were girls and dogs were boys, so romance was a rather complicated task for me back then. I continued to write all through my teens and into adulthood, but I didn’t get serious about it until the early 2000’s when the advent of digital publishing changed the whole world, at least for me. That’s when I started getting paid for my stories. It wasn’t long before I realized I could actually make a living doing this writing thing, and I committed myself to it full time. I’ve never looked back since, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

2.              What are some of your favorite authors/books?
I love the Imperfect Series by Mary Frame, the Just a Little Series by Tracie Puckett, the Troubleshooters Series by Suzanne Brockmann, the Monster High Series by Lisi Harrison, and the Monster Haven Series by Raquel Naquin. Since hubby and I write together, I should mention that his favorites are the White Trash Zombie Series by Diana Rowland and the Harry Dresden Series by Jim Butcher.

3.             Have you written a book where the ending surprised you?
Yes! As I mentioned, I write with my hubby, and we typically outline the entire story before we start writing it. But even so, we frequently get surprised by the direction the story takes. Sometimes the characters just take over and go off on their own. When that happens, we go with it and see what happens. There are other cases where an editor may suggest we do something slightly different, and that ends up changing everything. We’ve had good guys turn into bad guys, bad guys become good guys, and dead people come back to life. That happened in the second book in the Special Wolf Alpha Team (SWAT) Series, Wolf Trouble. Our editor thought the ending we had in mind was a bit too gruesome. I think the term she used was “over the top.” So we went back in and changed it a little. The end result was that the bad guy we’d planned on killing ended up going to prison, so that we could bring him back at some point in a future book. We just had a character in our X-OPS Series—a shifter named Ashley—who was supposed to have a minimal part, but she came out so colorful that we couldn’t kill her off like we planned, and now she’s a major character who will get her own book.

4.             Can readers find you at any Author/Reader conventions in the near future?
I’ll be at the Lori Foster Reader Author Get Together (RAGT) June 7 – 10, and the doing a one-day book signing in Destin, Florida in September called the Book Obsessed Babes Author Signing Event September 9.

5.             If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would you go?
That’s easy…Disney! I’m a complete Disney freak and would live there if I could! Not sure how I’d get any writing done if that happened, but it would definitely be fun!

6.             Top 3 things on your bucket list?
I don’t really have a buckle list. It has such a negative connotation to me. Instead, there are things I’d like us to do when I get the chance. Like going to Alaska to see the glaciers and the wildlife, taking a tour of London and France, and helping my husband retire early so he can write full-time with me.
