Talking with author Samantha Chase!

1.    When did you decide to become a writer?  Why?

I knew when I was in the third grade that I loved to write.  By middle school, I knew I loved reading romances.  By high school, I thought I could combine those two things.  I love reading romances – particularly contemporaries – and got my first taste through Harlequin.  I wrote for fun – for my own pleasure – but didn’t actually start submitting my stories until I was almost 40.  It was a dream of mine to get published, but one that I never thought I’d achieve.

2. What are some of your favorite authors/books?

I started out reading Sandra Brown and Nora Roberts voraciously.  With Sandra’s, it was her early contemporary romances with “22 Indigo Place” being one of my all-time favorites.  Nora’s MacKade Brothers really spoke to me as well.  I got hooked on Susan Mallery’s books after reading her Millionaire trilogy that she wrote for Silhouette Desire and I after that I think I read her entire library!  Now I read a lot of Bella Andre, Jill Shalvis, Lauren Blakely…oh my goodness.  There are too many to list!

3. Have you written a book where the ending surprised you?

Yes!  And I can’t say what that ending is because the book hasn’t been released yet!  “A Sky Full of Stars” (Shaughnessy book #5) really did that for me.  All I can say is that Owen Shaughnessy was the most unassuming member of the family and his story just really evolved in ways I never saw coming!

5. What are you working on now?  When will it be available?

I am currently working on two books.  The first is Shaughnessy book #6 (yet to be titled) which comes out in October 2017 and I’m also writing book #2 in the Band on the Run series – ONE MORE PROMISE – which comes out in 2018.

6. Top 3 things on your bucket list?

Hmm…I got to cross a few things off that list in 2016 so let me think about that for a minute…

1.    Go to Australia

2.    Indoor Skydive

3.    Attend a red carpet movie premiere
