If only he were a Dominant, one who would not just flog her into bliss, but love her as well. A girl can dream, can’t she?
He was her first love.
Mathieu wants nothing to do with another damsel in distress, but he can’t say no when the little blonde woman walks back into his life with proof her ex is big trouble. He can handle her, can’t he?
Lisette and Mathieu embark on a relationship that is strictly about sexual gratification, but evolves into more. When the bodies align, the hearts entwine. Except their rekindled flame is in danger. Lisette’s ex has found his prey, and he’s not afraid of taking a life.
Contains a BONUS short story, Picture Her Completed.
My Review:
I really enjoyed this sexy romance by the wonderful Sidney Bristol.  This is book 2 in the Bayou Bound series but can be read as a standalone (there are appearances of characters from the first book but it does not need to be read to enjoy and understand this one).  Mathieu is a detective in New Orleans who is recovering from divorce and does not want another damsel in distress (his wife was characterized as this).  His sister asks for his help in protecting a woman from her ex-boyfriend and he reluctantly agrees when that woman is the "one he sent away".  Lisette is being stalked and terrorized by her ex-boyfriend and returns to her home town to hide and get protection from another ex-boyfriend.  This sexy and suspenseful story grabbed my attention from page one.  This is a well written and emotional story of a woman attempting to reconnect with herself and her past.  The building of Mathieu's and Lisette's relationship was beautifully told as both of these characters had pasts that they needed to resolve in order for them to build a future together.  I highly recommend this wonderful yet nail-biting romantic story to readers.  Warning: this book does feature kinky characters and BDSM elements, so have a glass of ice-cold water nearby! ~Booklover Sue

My paranormal stories can be anything from wolf-shifters (my favorites) to witches, demons and anything in between. I was born the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, I live in New York City with my hubby, the bossy kiddo and our little dog "Needy Speedy". Don't ask. When I'm not working some really long hours at the day job, or hanging out in the awful life-sucking invention known as Facebook, messaging my bestie in the UK or shopping with my sis Julie, then I can be found watching scary movies. Buuut when I'm not doing that, I'm usually writing because the voices won't shut up. I am addicted to shoe shopping, chocolate (but who isn't, right?) and Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

Mina Carter:

Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days. So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all… (But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.) The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She's addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.

Maybe Ellie was wrong. What if there were snakes there? A firefly zoomed around her. She watched the tiny bug light up the dark with its yellow glow, zipping and buzzing back and forth in front of her. Some bugs weren’t so scary. From far away.

Her attention shot down to the blanket in the darkness. She’d swear it moved again. Her mind ran on overdrive and she knew the likelihood of her seeing shit that wasn’t even there was big. She took a deep breath and sighed. Her muscles ached from how tense she held herself. The night’s coolness did nothing to stop the heat from the earlier part of the day. Her tank top stuck to her back. She yanked on the front part and blew on her boobs. Thank goodness she was alone or she’d look so stupid doing that.

The others had gone silent. She wondered what they were up to. Where they as freaked out as her? Probably not. She’d bet Emma would live in the damn forest if she got a chance. Leaves crunched from a nearby bush. With an agility she knew she didn’t possess, she got on her knees on the blanket. The noise in the trees increased. Fear froze the blood in her veins. Her heartbeat thundered in her ears along with the sound of the harsh breaths that struggled in and out of her lungs. There was a wild animal near her.

Holy. Shit.

“Oh, hell no!” There was no way she would sit around to find out what the heck was in the bush. She struggled to her feet. Her leg had gone numb so she had to put her weight, which was not just a couple of pounds, on her other leg. Screw the video, she’d return in the morning and remove the camera.

She bent and yanked her bag from the blanket. Something poked at her ass. She turned on her heel to run. Her knees hit a big lump of...fur? Her body did a full flip over the big furry body and she landed on her back with a thud, half on and half off the blanket.

My Review:

This was a wonderful addition to the Sassy Mates series.  Nicole was a fantastic character who had an unpleasant childhood yet despite that, she is a caring woman.  Jake has wanted her since he met her and has unsuccessfully tried to entice her into a relationship.  Everything changes during the scenting ceremony but Nicole is still unsure of entering a relationship with fun-loving Jake.  This was a very enjoyable story with the women of the series heading to Sin City to let loose which ends with Nicole being married to Jake!  This is a fun, sassy and sexy tale of attraction!  I highly recommend it to readers who have been following this awesome series and if you haven't started Sassy Mates, start with book 1, Scent of a Mate, and enjoy!  ~Booklover Sue

Cardeno C. - CC to friends - is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset. Cardeno's Home, Family, and Mates series have received awards from Love Romances and More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards, the Goodreads M/Romance Group, and various reviewers. But even more special to CC are heartfelt reactions from readers, like, "You bring joy and love and make it part of the every day."

Virtual Blurb Blitz Tour & Giveaway - Gabe Kincaid by Caroline Clemmons

Gabe Kincaid

by Caroline Clemmons

Gabe Kincaid has reasons to hate lies and those who tell them. He moved from Austin to Kincaid Springs and joined his great uncle’s law firm. Gabe believes he’s happy and pushes aside those moments of loneliness, of wishing for more. He strongly believes in the law, in justice, and obeying rules. Doing what’s right is fulfilling, isn’t it? Then why is he so fascinated with a circus fortuneteller who spins tales faster than a cowboy whirls his lariat?

Katie Worthington poses as Dorothy Duncan in a small-time circus. If she isn’t behind the scenes mending costumes or in the circus kitchen, she’s disguised as the fortuneteller, Maharani Shimza, Mystic of the East. Even so, she worries about being killed by the men pursuing her. She fears a brawl at her fortune telling tent that sends her into the Kincaid’s protective custody will end with her exposure and death. Then, a death at the circus implicates her. How can she escape when that attorney pops up every time she turns around?

Will Gabe and Katie let the sparks between them ignite into a passionate romance or will her secrets destroy their chance at a happily ever after?

The sheriff dropped into his chair and threw his hat on his desk. “I hate the circus.” He met the woman’s glare. “Not the people in it, mind, but their appearance in town makes normal folks do crazy things.” He pointed at the three young men. “Your parents are gonna be mighty mad at you three. No madder than I am, but I hope the father of each of you busts your hide.”

He opened his desk drawer and took out paper. After dipping his pen in the inkpot, he wrote “July 16, 1888” at the top of the sheet. “Start with you, young lady. I want your name and place of residence.”

She flashed a haughty look. “I’m Maharani Shimza, Mystic of the East and fortune teller.” With a theatrical gesture, she posed with one hand in the air. “I am a gypsy queen and live with the circus people. Shall I tell your fortune, sheriff?”

He leveled a gaze at her. “If you’re a gypsy queen, I’m Queen Victoria. Real name and place of permanent residence.”

Resignation replaced her haughtiness. “I’m Dorothy Duncan from Boston, Massachusetts.”

Gabe believed she lied. She had a deep Southern accent. He’d place her in Georgia or South Carolina.

Ben wrote her information on the paper. “How long have you been with the circus?”

“Two years, almost. And I do live with the circus.”

“Nearest relative?”

Absolute fear shone from her eyes. “I’m an orphan.”

Gabe figured there was an interesting story there and one she didn’t want to share. A simple question from a sheriff shouldn’t create that kind of reaction. Interesting.

 A Highlander’s Obsession:

Highlander’s Beloved Trilogy, Book 1

By: Vonnie Davis

Releasing August 19th, 2014

In the vein of Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound series and Shelly Laurenston’s Pride Stories, Vonnie Davis introduces two wandering souls who discover that true love needs no words in this explosive, fantastical novel.

Two wandering souls discover that true love needs no words in this explosive, fantastical novel from Vonnie Davis.

Somehow able to telepathically communicate with animals, Paisley Munro has found meaning in her so-called gifts by working as a veterinary assistant. But while traveling to Scotland for a relative’s funeral, Paisley fears that she really has lost her mind. Out in the highlands, she hears distinctly human thoughts coming from a wild bear. Terrified and desperate, she returns to the lodge and collapses in the powerful arms of its owner, a mysterious man with whom she shares a simmering attraction.

Creighton Matheson and his fellow shape-shifters have been roaming this land freely for centuries. Now Paisley may inherit his home, putting his kind in grave danger. His mistrust only deepens when he realizes she can read his mind. Yet he cannot deny that this tantalizing woman makes him burn with desire—and hunger for the prospect of a tender love. Now Creighton must decide which would hurt more: revealing the truth or losing Paisley forever.

Let's Learn a Little about Vonnie Davis:

What is your writing environment?
When I’m home, I sit on my recliner with my laptop on my lap. But we have special writing haunts we visit almost every day to consume mass amounts of coffee and write. Calvin, my husband, reads his iPad while I write. My favorite spot, though, is a sidewalk cafĂ© in Paris.

Who is your perfect hero/heroine? Why?
MacKenzie’s Mountain by Linda Howard. It’s an oldie and I read it twice a year. Wolf MacKenzie is all alpha, part-Native, ex-Special Forces from ‘Nam and a barrel load of attitude. Mary is a virginal school teacher with the nerve to go toe-to-toe with him. I love the dynamics of it. The ying and yang pull. And the way she ends up holding this rough guy in the palm of her hand.

Which authors have caught your interest lately? Why?
I love the verbal imagery of AJ Nuest who can make you see what you’re reading. I’ve fallen in love with the characters of Cherrie Lynn in Leave Me Breathless. And am wowed by the plotting of Tracy Wolff’s books.

What type of book have you always wanted to write?
Political intrigue. Yeah, I know, so what am I doing writing romance after romance? Because it’s a genre I know. I’ve been reading it since the sixties which makes me older than dirt, doesn’t it?

Top 3 things on your bucket list:
To make the Best Seller List.
I want to get a tattoo.
I want to travel to Scotland.

How did you get the idea for this particular novel?
I’d had surgery to remove cancer from one of my salivary glands, a four-hour surgery with a long recovery time. About a month after the operation, two golden spots showed up in the back of my mind. They started glowing, and I thought brain cancer! The doctors didn’t get it all and it’s spread to my brain. I was scared to death to call for an appointment, but the day I’d worked up the nerve, the golden orbs blinked. Blinked, mind you! Eyes? These were eyes? I didn’t need to call a cancer doctor; I needed to call a shrink! They watched me for about two weeks and then one night left my head and moved into the body of a bear standing at the foot of my bed.
Now I have a strange philosophy about characters…that they hunt for the right authors to write their stories. I looked at that big bear and said, “I’m sorry, but I don’t write children’s stories.” He shook his head. “What? You’re not that kind of bear?” He shook his head again before shifting into this handsome, muscular Scot in a kilt. “Oh dear, you’re still in the wrong house. I don’t write paranormal.”
He sauntered to my side of the bed and sat. “Aye, lassie, but ye will. I’m Creighton Matheson. In Scottish, mathe means bear and I am laird of a bear sleuth. We are sons of bears. Did ye ever hear how bears came to be extinct in Scotland?” And he told me the most fantastic tale with Vikings and battle and caves along the coast of Scotland.
The next morning, I googled “Are bears extinct in Scotland” and found out the government was trying to reintroduce the species back into the Highlands. My research claimed the bears had been wiped out by hunters, but my late night bear-shifter’s story was so much more interesting, so I wrote it his way.

What is your favorite scene in your newest release?
Creighton and Paisley’s first kiss. He just wow’s her with it…and me too.

What is the last movie you watched and loved?
“The Jersey Boys” – The music of my teens.

What would you consider a “perfect date”?
A dinner cruise on the Seine. Can you tell Paris is my favorite city?

What are you currently working on?
Book two of this series. It’s called A Highlander’s Passion. It’s the love story of Bryce and Kenzie and the first draft is nearly done.

Author Info:
Vonnie Davis, who studied English at Penn State, likens herself to a croissant: crusty, wrinkled, flaky—and best served with strong coffee. After a career as a technical writer, she’s spending her retirement playing fairy godmother to her characters, giving them their happily-ever-afters. Six fantastic, talented kids call her “Grandma” and brighten her world in so many ways. She lives in Southern Virginia with her husband, author Calvin Davis.

In a post-nuclear future, the lush pleasure cyborgs of Earth have become powerful, fearsome mutants known as Wroks who rule the wild, desolate Fallout landscape. The Wroks and their leader, Yoevin, desperately hunt for a female capable of mothering a cyborg's child. As the years pass, they struggle while fighting to hold on to the intelligence and humanity granted by their makers centuries ago.

Hidden deep in caverns below, Imogenne and her people survive by cultivating the earth, making rare forays above ground for supplies and fresh resources. But Imogenne is not like the rest of her people. She is wild, sensual, and strangely independent -- like her mother, who disappeared years ago in a Wrok attack. On the verge of being betrothed to a man she does not love and facing the rest of her life underground without adventure or freedom, she is haunted by darkly erotic visions that promise something more beyond the world -- and biology -- she knows.

When she is captured in a night Wrok raid, Imogenne hopes to escape her new masters and survive by her wits. But she then discovers a horrifying truth: Her body has a will of its own, one that may very well leave her no choice but to become a mother of the New World.

Words: ~19,000. This title contains graphic sexual scenes: m/f, captive sexual submission, voyeurism, mutant cyborg and human intercourse. Do not read this work if you find such themes offensive.
I turn my head slowly to look at the walls. Stone, heavy and grey. One side has a window looking out onto a night sky. Another is entirely made of a metal gate, and on the other side sits the monster. I swallow hard, and say nothing, taking in every detail, willing myself to give no reaction at all to my captor.
“Look upon me, then. You’ll see me for many days hence.”
His eyes glow red and unnatural, but in them is an intelligence. The ears are pointed, like the bats of our warrens, nearer to the back of his head.
“What are you?” I ask, noting the powerful muscles of his body, beneath black, warped skin that looks dry and peeling. Veins ride out hard against the flesh, bulging as though from an excess of power. From behind his back rise huge, membranous black wings, with pointed upper tips that hook together, holding them closed … again, like a bat’s.
“I once looked like your kind, you know,” he says, not quite answering the question. My eyes wander down, unable to stop. “I would not look there now, if I were you.”
His voice is gravelly and soft, and I stop my eyes at his chest, feeling my heart suddenly skip beats. It rarely does that.
“There are many strange stories to tell. You’re the only one I’ve met who hasn’t lost some of her sense by now. I wonder how many stories you could bear.”
“Test me, then.”
I lift my eyes to his and feel a daring in them I do not know the source of, but it takes over, like everything else. His chin is sharp and pointed, and I see fangs hiding behind the surface of his lips. They gleam, those lips, wet and hungry for something I have yet to see.
My Review:
I enjoyed this futuristic story.  It features Imogenne, a woman who has spent her life underground to avoid capture by the Wroks.  Wroks are cyborgs who are desperately searching for human women to breed with to produce the future race of cyborg/human.  Imogenne is a very strong and determined woman who has had erotic dreams of that leave her wanting to explore the world.  Yoevin is the leader of the Wroks and he is a cyborg who longs for something, though he is not sure what it is.  The chemistry between Imogenne and Yoevin is instant and electric.  I felt the story was well written and provided good background information for me not to feel lost while reading.  This is a very enjoyable book about two different species struggling to survive.  A warning: the two surviving races are biologically different and if interspecies sexual situations offend you, do not read this book. ~Booklover Sue
