By Abbie Roads
First in a chilling new paranormal
romantic suspense series from award-winning author Abbie Roads
He’s found her at last
Cain Killion knows himself to be a damaged man, his only saving grace
the extrasensory connection to blood that he uses to catch murderers. His
latest case takes a macabre turn when he discovers a familiar and haunting
symbol linking the crime to his own horrific past—and only one woman could know
what it means.
Only to lose her to a nightmare
Mercy Ledger is brave, resilient, beautiful—and in terrible danger.
The moment he sees Mercy, Cain knows he’s the one who can save her. He also
knows he’s beyond redemption. But the lines between good and evil blur and the
only thing clear to Cain and Mercy is that they belong together. Love is the
antidote for blood—but is their bond strong enough to overcome the evil that
stalks them?

Talking with Abbie Roads!
When
did you decide to become a writer? Why?
In
’09 I reached a crossroads in my life. I realized I wasn’t happy and yet I had
every reason to be happy. I had a great husband, a great house, two wonderful
dogs, a job I loved. But something was missing. That missing piece was writing.
I’d wanted to be a writer when I was a little kid, but too many things at the
time made me believe I couldn’t do it.
It
wasn’t until ’09 that I got the courage to try. And believe me it took courage.
I had no idea how to write a book. I mean no idea. I had to learn everything
from the ground up.
I’ve
been so much happier finally following my dream.
What
are some of your favorite authors/books?
Stephen
King. He’s the master at it all.
Thomas
Harris –Author of the Hannibal Lecter series. I love these books because he
takes such ugly subject matter and writes it using beautiful words.
Tahereh
Mafi—The Shatter Me Series. These are YA books. The series starts with Juliette
being so damaged, yet she ultimately finds her power and triumphs.
J.
R. Ward—The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. If you love a good tormented alpha
male—these are the books for you. They’re heavy in male point-of-view. All the
brothers have a special place in my heart, but especially Wrath, Rhage, and
Zsadist.
Have
you written a book where the ending surprised you?
No…
I write romance, so no matter what happens to my characters—terrible, horrible,
awful things—I know I’m going to give them a happily-ever-after.

What
is your favorite scene in your new release?
My
favorite scene is one I can’t talk about because I don’t want to give anything
away! But it’s toward the end of the book and is the most powerful moment for
Cain—the hero. If you’ve read the book you know what I’m talking about.
