Excerpt:

Chapter 9

* * * Symone * * *

“Nile, it’s not what you think,” I begged. Nile ignored me and got all up in Cessar’s face. Cessar bucked, not backing down. Now they were only inches apart.

“I told you to stay away from her!” Nile spat.

“You may be a prince, but you can’t tell me who I can and can’t talk to.”

“I don’t care who you speak to. But you can’t have her!”

“That’s not your decision to make.”

My stomach hit the floor. I didn’t want either of them getting hurt.

“Guys, please stop arguing.” They both ignored me.

“Symone is not your property. We were just discussing her and me getting together.”

Livid, Nile punched Cessar in the jaw. Cessar raised his hands and zapped lightning bolts toward him. Nile counteracted them with his telekinesis. Bolts slammed into the wall, scorching them with black marks. Others destroyed the couch as white fuzz splayed everywhere. Nile used his powers and slung Cessar into another wall.

This just couldn’t be happening. Cessar sprang up; Nile was already in front of him. Cessar started sending blows his way. Nile dodged, bringing both elbows to his face, then delivered punches of his own. I stood in place, frozen. Cessar took a few steps back, conjuring lightning bolts again. Nile intercepted a few, but one caught him in the chest and threw him to the ground.

“Nile!” I screamed, running over to him. Nile trembled but shook it off. He extended his hand. Cessar flew backward and hit the fireplace so hard pieces broke from it. Nile leapt to his feet, lunging at Cessar. Now they were going at it again. Blow for blow, hand thrusts and kicks. Cessar attempted to swipe Nile’s feet from under him. Nile jumped from his reach. He grabbed Cessar’s head and placed him in a headlock. Cessar struggled, and my breathing was shallow. Cessar rammed his elbow reputedly into Nile’s rib cage until he released his grasp. Nile shoved him in his side; Cessar punted Nile in the face. A lamp whirled across the room. Nile used his power and smashed the lamp into Cessar’s head. Blood gushed from the wound. Nile turned around and seized him in a backward headlock. Cessar’s spine was bent at an odd angle, unable to move.

The door flew open. Bryan, Kumar, and Kadeem sprinted inside. Praise Sonar!

“Stop them!” I yelled. Bryan and Kumar rushed over and broke them apart. Nile had almost broken free from their grip. Kadeem ran over to assist. Bryan and Kumar held Nile. Kadeem had Cessar.

“Let me go!” Nile shouted, still tussling against them.

“What is this about, Nile?” Bryan asked. But I had a feeling he already knew because he glanced at me quickly.

B Truly has wanted to be an author since she was fifteen years old and is grateful to have accomplished this dream. She has very vivid dreams and a wild imagination. She likes to read, watch tons of TV shows, and movies. She is addicted to romance and gets a thrill out of action and suspense. She writes New Adult, Fantasy, Sci-fi, and Paranormal-Romance.
