Convergence
by Michelle Grey
GENRE: Romantic Suspense
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nothing
comes between Tori Whitlock and her tornado chase season -- not a serial
killer, not even the hot FBI agent who’s vowed to save her life. But Detective
Jack Mathis plays tough. Ending this case isn’t just his job, it’s his mission.
And he finally has the advantage.
He faces Tori’s
hostility and objections head-on, interjecting himself into every aspect of her
life, and leaving him no time to dwell on his own.
Through the twists and
turns of the madman’s game, Tori is forced to adapt to her unwelcome
circumstances. Still, she fights Jack's presence, and her attraction to him, as
he tries to open doors better left closed.
For Tori and Jack, life
and death decisions are part of their jobs. But, can they overcome their pasts
and realize that there’s a difference between life and living?
EXCERPT:
This meeting isn’t about Glenn and his new show.”
Tori checked Cam and Dwayne to see if they were as confused
as she was, but neither one was looking at her. She sat back and cocked her
head. “Then what?”
Alan tugged at his shirt collar. “The emails. Cam gave them
to me. And I gave them to the FBI.”
Her head swiveled to Cam, her voice low and menacing. “You
rat bastard. I want my key back. You had no right.”
Cam’s steady eyes assessed her. “Would you have turned in
the emails?”
Tori rolled her eyes. “Of course not. I –”
“Exactly. I had no choice but to be the responsible one.”
“Responsible my –”
Alan raised his voice, interrupting their spat. “Either way,
the FBI thinks the emails are credible enough that they’re sending their lead
agent on the case down here to become your best friend for a little while.”
Fingers dug into the chair’s padded fake leather arms as she
shot a pointed look at Cam. “I don’t need another ‘friend.’ I’ve got enough of
them already. What’s he going to do, live with me?”
“Probably. And chase with you, too.”
Tori’s chair exploded against the conference room wall as
she flew out of it and planted her palms on the table. “Oh, hell no.”
Talking with author Michelle Grey!
Who is your perfect hero/heroine and why?
What authors have caught your interest lately and why?
What type of book have you always wanted to write?
Top 3 things on your bucket list?
How did you get the idea for this particular novel?
What is your favorite scene in your new release?
What are you working on now and when can we expect it to be available?
What
is your writing environment?
I
tend to write in random places – my car, Panera, ballgames. But if I’m very
fortunate, I get to spend hours on end in my Paris-themed office at home.
Who is your perfect hero/heroine and why?
I think the perfect hero or heroine is someone
who’s absolutely imperfect. I love characters that I can relate to because I
(or someone I care about) has experienced the same kind of
pain/loss/insecurity. The best part of reading a story of redemption is truly
empathizing with a character and celebrating their success.
What authors have caught your interest lately and why?
My
recent reads include Audrey Carlan, Denise Grover Swank, and of course my
critique partners, Darlene Deluca and Janice Richards current works in
progress. I like to stay current with what’s hot in the industry, and, like
most voracious readers, I’m always trying to find new authors that I like. I’m
as impatient as everyone else when it comes to waiting for my favorite authors
to put out a new book.
What type of book have you always wanted to write?
So
far, I’m still completely in love with Romantic Suspense, but I also love
historical fiction (and non-fiction), so maybe I’ll try my hand at Regency-era
romance some day.
Top 3 things on your bucket list?
My
bucket list always tends to involve travel, so I would say extended vacations
to Europe, and Australia/New Zealand, and probably a cruise to Alaska.
How did you get the idea for this particular novel?
I always start with a character in mind. I’d
had Tori drawn from a while, but I didn’t know exactly where she was going to
fit. Then when Jack came along as Garrett’s best friend in Unspoken Bonds, I
knew he was going to be Tori’s hero. He’s everything she needed, but most
importantly, he was someone who would let go not matter how many times she
tried to keep him from her heart.
What is your favorite scene in your new release?
Probably
the coffee shop scene near the end of the book, but I can’t tell you why
without giving away the story. J
What are you working on now and when can we expect it to be available?
I have two projects going right now. One is a
two-book contemporary romantic suspense series set in the San Juan mountains of
Colorado. The other is Cam’s story. In Convergence, he’s Tori’s best (and
really only) friend. People who have read Convergence have already begun asking
when they’ll get to find out his story. The first book in the Colorado series
and Cam’s story will be completed this year and release in 2017.
What
do you like to do when you are not writing?
I love reading for pleasure. No big surprise
there. I also love playing tennis. I’m not very good, but fortunately, neither
is my husband, so we’re pretty well-suited. But playing with my four- and
two-year-old grandkids has to be my most fun downtime. They’re at great ages,
and that old adage is true. Being Granny is way more fun than being mom.
What
is one interesting fact about you that readers don’t know?
Many
readers don’t know that I’m an ovarian cancer survivor and I spend time throughout
the year educating women on the early symptoms of the disease. Most early
symptoms are ignored, which allows the disease to progress. If caught early,
the survival rates are quite high. So, I always mention it at every book event
I go to. It’s that important.
Michelle Grey
is an avid lover of books, and had always thought that someday she would take
up her pen and write romantic suspense. In 2009, Michelle was diagnosed with a
rare form of ovarian cancer, and she realized that “somedays” aren’t
guaranteed. This life changing event motivated Michelle to pursue her dream of
becoming an author.
In January of
2013, Michelle released her debut novel, Dangerous Ally.
In September of
2013, the next book in her Long Shot Series, Unspoken Bonds, was published.
Now a cancer
survivor, Michelle decided to use her platform to promote awareness of ovarian
cancer and its symptoms. In January 2014
she published, Are You Listening: A Personal Journal of an Ovarian Cancer Survivor.
Because it is
so important to spread the word, one hundred percent of the proceeds from this
$.99 ebook go directly to the Vicki Welsh Ovarian Cancer Fund to support their
mission of fighting ovarian cancer through awareness, education, research and
support.
Michelle lives
in the Midwestern US with her husband of twenty-eight years and has four
amazing and unique children, a wonderful son-in-law, and two beautiful
granddaughters. Michelle believes that
any day that involves family, writing, or reading is a great day, indeed.
