About the Book:

SO MANY COWBOYS...

Shy computer specialist, dog lover, and amateur chef Tina Hayes has a thing for firefighters, but when she travels to the Circle Bar K ranch on family business, the ranch’s cowboys have no trouble persuading her to stay on as their cook. Especially not when she learns that brooding Wyatt McCabe—a man who makes her heart gallop like no one else can—is also a former firefighter.

HOW DOES SHE KNOW HE’S THE ONE?

Wyatt’s sizzling embraces leave Tina breathless. But being surrounded by a passel of smokin’ hot ranch hands can be complicated. With so many cowboys courting Tina all at once, Wyatt must prove to Tina that she belongs with him.

Q&A with Cheryl Brooks

When did you decide to become a writer? Why?

In 2004, I saw the movie, Under the Tuscan Sun. Afterward, I said to my husband, “Sure would be nice to be a rich author and live in a villa in Tuscany.” To which, he said. “Write!” I’ve been writing ever since, and the first book in my Cat Star Chronicles series was published by Sourcebooks Casablanca in 2008. That series is now up to ten books, and my current release, Must Love Cowboys is the third installment in the Cowboy Heaven series, which also includes the Cowboy Delight novella and another full-length novel, Cowboy Heaven. In addition to those titles published by Sourcebooks, I have eight self-published works and eight novellas published by Siren/Bookstrand. Alas, I’m still living on a farm in Indiana and have yet to even visit Italy.

What are some of your favorite authors/books?

I love the Harry Potter series, Mary Stewart’s romantic suspense novels and her Merlin trilogy, and historical romances by various authors. Georgette Heyer was an early favorite of mine, and when I’m reading for pleasure, I tend to fall back on regency romances. It’s a wonder I don’t write them!

Have you written a book where the ending surprised you?

Not really. When I first get the idea for a book, I have the beginning and ending in mind. The middle is where the surprises happen. I love it when I’ve given a character a particular interest or talent up front, and somewhere along the line it comes in very handy, creating an “AHA!” moment for me as the writer. Those moments often make me wonder if that subconscious intention had been there all along.

Can readers find you at any Author/Reader conventions in the near future?

The Indiana chapter of Romance Writers of America is joining up with the Indianapolis Library for a free public screening of Love Between the Covers at the Indianapolis Central Library, located at 40 E. St. Clair St. Indianapolis, Indiana on April 23, 2016 from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Auditorium doors open at 1:30pm. Screening begins at 2:00pm. An author panel discussion and Q&A will follow the presentation, with IRWA authors signing from 4:30pm to 5:00pm. Parking is available in the Library’s parking garage for a nominal fee. I’ll be signing at the event and participating in the panel discussion.

I will also be at the Indie Unmasked event September 10, 2016 at the Wellington Fishers Banquet Center in Fishers, Indiana. The signing will be from 12-4 pm, and the masquerade (Vintage Glam theme) from 8-midnight. This event is loads of fun and features authors from all over the country. If you come to the masquerade, you’ll be able to spot me because I’ll probably be the only one wearing a sari!

My only other public event this year will be the 2016 Literacy Autographing event, which will be held July 13, 2016, at the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina in San Diego, California to kick off the RWA National Conference. The event will feature over 450 romance authors who will be autographing their latest works. Authors who are anticipated to participate include Nora Roberts and Sylvia Day. And me! :)
