Twenty-eight year old actress Rowan Montgomery has the role of a lifetime: the public image of World-Renowned Paranormal Author, Publisher, and closet Vampire--Claudia Woods. Since Claudia can't venture out during the daylight hours, Rowan’s spunk, good looks and knowledge of the vampire’s books makes her the perfect candidate to promote Claudia's work to the world while keeping her undead status a secret.
Rowan’s imagination could never have conjured her current reality; Vampires, werewolves, gargoyles, eccentric butlers named Igor, and other fantastic creatures are around every corner. Like living in some kind of strange mystical dream, Rowan finds the new world she's thrust into to be one of the most thrilling adventures possible. Attending author conventions, book signings, and author interviews, Rowan attempts to create the right public image for her boss while struggling to keep her desire for mysterious and antagonistic Ethan Wilder at bay. Every inch of his body is covered in sex appeal, and he knows it. Unbeknownst to Rowan, he is hiding a family secret that should send her running for the hills. Instead, she finds herself pulled in deeper.
Everything about Ethan makes her lose her mind. Rowan wants nothing more than to hold him at arm’s length, but his mere presence makes all sensible thoughts flee. If she lets him get too close, he could discover the secrets she must keep hidden from the world, especially if she wants to keep her job and all the perks that come along with it.
After a short time in the spotlight, strange things begin to happen to Rowan, starting with the appearance of wolves, that seem to be nothing more than a coincidence. Before long, threats come rolling in for the stand-in Author, and it becomes clear that not all is fair in love and war when it comes to the Book Industry. Rowan is caught in the crossfire with traitors, spies and snarling fangs around every corner.

How long will Rowan survive in Claudia’s world before she loses herself completely?

Character Interview

Cast of Little Red (Rowan, Ethan, Claudia)

Elissa Daye

Now the interviewees in question were quite busy, hard to reach, or just plain uncompromising. I wasn’t able to get a long interview with them because of this. These were the only questions they felt like cooperating on. When you put a womanizer, actress, and vampire into any kind of spotlight you never know what you’re going to get. This is verbatim, but thankfully they decided to keep their language in check. Thank goodness. You know how vampires can get.

What is your favorite color?

Rowan: Considering most of my best friends and family members call me Little Red, it’s not red. Red is flattering on me, but I have to admit that I like coral the best.

Ethan: It depends on who’s wearing it. I’ve been known to like a little black and red, mostly red though.

Claudia: What kind of question is this? Seriously, what is my favorite color? Like I give a flying leap about colors. I’m a vampire for crying out loud. Do you think I sit around in the dark debating which shade or tone looks best on me? It’s not like I can check myself in the mirror.

What is your favorite pet?

Rowan: Cats. I love that cats will snuggle up with you on a cold day, but know when to give you space too. Sometimes people just don’t know when to give you space. Cats, they seem to be intuitive. They’ve also got an independent streak that I admire.

Ethan: Dogs. Definitely dogs. They’re loyal without fault, not to mention protective of the ones they love. I don’t have much time for pets though. I’m too busy chasing my own tail.

Claudia: Well, if Igor counted, I would say him, but I think you’re referring to a human pet, I’m sorry a pet for humans, not what I consider pets. I’d have to say ferrets. Believe it or not, the little scamps are quite entertaining, especially when they’re giving Igor the slip. They get along quite well with the gargoyles too.

Who do you feel influenced you most in your life?

Rowan: My older sister. She was always getting into trouble growing up. I learned quickly what not to do, or how to not get caught. (Chuckles) You see, Callie she was a spit fire from the time she could walk. Anything that could go wrong in the house, Callie was usually behind it with me following a close second. Of course, Callie usually took the blame for it. I still owe her for half of my childhood. I can’t say for sure, but I think she’s the one who made me take chances in my career, like auditioning for a role as Claudia Woods.

Ethan: Influence? If you consider a role model of what not to do, I’d say my father with my brother a close second. We’re still trying to recover from their disasters. Now my sister, she’s the most stable influence I have in my life. I would do anything to keep her safe. My brother, I’d love to protect him from himself, but that would involve locking him up in the basement until he learns how to deal with his vices in a healthier way.

Claudia: If I tell you, I might have to kill you. Oh relax, I don’t bite. Well, that’s not true. I’ll bite if you want me to. Influence? Humans. They all influence me. I watch them at night sometimes, and as I do, ideas for stories pop into my head. I give them paranormal characteristics, and voila a new masterpiece is created, a paranormal story about the things they would normally flee from. You can learn a lot from watching others.

Do you have a favorite childhood memory?

Rowan: I started acting at a young age. My favorite memories are the time I spent on the stage. I loved the attention. As the middle child, sometimes that’s the only way you get it. I remember playing Little Red Riding Hood in a production of Into the Woods. I had a massive crush on the big bad wolf, but he didn’t seem to mind.

Ethan: The time spent with my mom as she read from our favorite books. She made the world seem so large, yet safe at the same time. I think this influenced my sister too, since she’s become a pretty popular writer.

Claudia: You probably expect me to tell you how old I am. Not going to happen. I loved the smell of fresh baked bread as a child. For some reason that smell alone could comfort a broken heart, soothe a bleeding cut, and reassure me that even with very little we were blessed.

Do you have a love interest?

Rowan: It’s an on again, off again thing. I don’t fall head over feet too easily. Too much is at stake for that.

Ethan: Love? What is that? I’m not sure it exists for me. Now, that doesn’t mean I don’t like to have an attractive woman on my arms, but I’m happy being a bachelor. It’s less complicated that way.

Claudia: Who needs love? I’ve got passion to get me through. You have no idea how passionate vampires really are. If you don’t believe me, you need to read page 63 of my latest novel. That really happened, by the way. (winks)
