ARC Review - Zack (Cold Fury Hockey #3) by Sawyer Bennett

Zack
Cold Fury Hockey #3
by Sawyer Bennett

Releases: June 9, 2015

Blurb:

New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett goes for a hat trick with the latest romance in a sexy series about cool-as-ice hockey players and the women heating up their lives.

Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief ever since the car accident that left him a single dad and put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury and still crippled by emotional baggage, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes.

Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.

My Review:

OMG!  This series continues to get better and better.  This story is an emotional roller coaster ride that I did not want to end.  Zack is still feeling the loss of his longtime girlfriend and now that he will be back on the road with his hockey team, he is in need of help in caring for his son.  He has just hired a nanny and sparks start to fly when he discovers she is not as nerdy as she seems.  Kate needs this job but complications arise when she finds herself falling for both father and son.

Zack is unwilling to move on with his life and the very last thing he wants is a relationship, especially one with his son's nanny.  Zack still feels guilty and blames himself for the death of his girlfriend.  The sexual chemistry between him and Kate is off the charts but these two have a lot of emotional baggage which causes problems in developing a loving relationship.  Kate has an uphill battle as Zack refuses to let Kate heal his wounded heart.  This is a very emotional read that I was smiling at one point and a few pages later, crying.  Both Zack and Kate are strong individuals who love with their whole heart but both have been hurt and I found myself drawn into their story as I eagerly turned the pages.

This is the third book in a fantastic series and though this could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first two amazing books first as those characters are secondary characters in this book.  If I could give this book higher than 5 stars, I would!  Outstanding book! ~Booklover Sue
