Sequel
to I Heard Your Voice
Tamar Steele’s star is on the rise.
Her relationship with boyfriend Jason Bray is blossoming, as is her bond with
her spirit guide, the ghost of Jason’s brother Matt, who has been training her
in mediumship. And, newly installed as the medium for her crew of paranormal
investigators, she is already receiving press attention, which brings her to
the notice of Scare Seekers – a paranormal entertainment show keen to film an
episode with Tamar’s team.
But when teammate Hana is violently
possessed, filming is thrown into disarray. The dark spirit seems to disappear
at first, but when a frenzied Hana attacks Tamar on the drive home, Tamar
realises that her mediumistic abilities may not be strong enough to fight the
demon.
Until one day Tamar discovers her
powers are increased by having sex on haunted ground, and finds that maybe she
and Jason can save Hana, their team’s reputation, and themselves…
Excerpt:
God, he was good
at this. She could already feel relaxation flowing through her body, followed
by tingles of excitement as his tongue went to work, tormenting every sensitive
spot. Her pleasure mounted, spiraling in her gut as she pushed her hips
forward, aching for more movement, harder, faster, but Jason was still
going slowly and her breath raced in anticipation of the climax to come.
Tamar moaned,
lacing her fingers into Jason’s hair as he pressed soft kisses to her pussy,
alternating with tender licks until she could barely stand it. Jason slid his fingers
inside her, grazing her sweet spot over and over again—
“Jason!”
Jason’s lips
tightened around her clit, sucking, and Tamar threw back her head and screamed
as the pleasure hit her.
Through the waves
of ecstasy, she heard a loud pop from above her, followed by a sprinkling
sensation on her skin.
“What the fuck?”
she heard Jason say, and Tamar opened her eyes. Her chest and stomach were
covered with shards of glass. Jason was sitting back on his ankles, staring up
in irritated confusion as he brushed fragments out of his hair.
At least, it
looked like he was. The room was in almost complete darkness, broken only by
the bedside lamp and the street light outside the window.
“Did the light
bulb blow?”
“I think it shattered.”
“Jesus.”
Together they got off
the bed to sweep up the pieces of broken bulb, Tamar shaking her head in
bemusement.
Now that had never happened before.
What did that
mean?

Let's learn a little about author Tanith Davenport!
Who is your perfect hero and why?
I’ll have to go to Austen for this one, but not Mr Darcy –
Mr Crawford from “Mansfield Park”. He’s fascinating and endlessly entertaining
- I always felt he should have got the heroine instead of Edmund Bertram.
What authors have caught your interest lately and why?
I love historical fiction, so have been reading a lot of
Anne O’Brien recently – she’s very good at creating strong female characters. I
also love Lauren Oliver for her characterization and world-building.
What type of book have you always wanted to write?
I’ve always fancied trying literary fiction. I have a few
ideas but they’re on the back burner at the moment.
Top 3 things on your bucket list?
My bucket list is about a mile long, but right now my top 3
would be see all the Bond movies, learn to clay-pigeon shoot and collaborate on
a book with another erotic romance writer. I’m doing well with the first, less
so with the other two.
How did you get the idea for this particular novel?
“Tamar Rising” is the sequel to “I Heard Your Voice”, about
a team of paranormal investigators and a heroine whose singing voice draws
spirits to her. I wanted to develop Tamar’s abilities and role within the team
while tackling a different supernatural experience, which is where the demonic
possession came in. I also wanted to see
how Tamar’s relationship with Jason would grow as a result of events from the
previous book.
What is your favorite scene in your new release?
One of the sex scenes in Jason’s car, which ends with Matt’s
ghost dropping in through the roof. It’s a wonderfully unexpected way to end
the scene and still makes me laugh.
What are you working on now and when can we expect it to be
available?
I’m currently doing edits for my novella “In the Halls of
the Mountain Troll” which is due out in June from Totally Bound. It’s about a
team of Norwegian troll-hunters – always nice to do something a bit left field!
I’m also working on a new series which I hope to have out later this year.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I love to go to the cinema, especially to see horror movies,
and also trying out new restaurants, the more unusual the better. I’ve also
been going on paranormal investigations, initially as research but now because
I enjoy them. Admittedly they’re not as exciting as they are when I write them,
but I live in hope.
What would you consider a perfect date?
A horror film followed by dinner at an open-air Thai
restaurant, sitting at a table with a beautiful view.
What is one interesting fact about you that readers don’t
know?
I've got five tattoos.
