Interview & Giveaway - Draw Me In by Regina Cole

Draw Me In

By: Regina Cole

Releasing November 4th, 2014

Loveswept: Flirt

Blurb:

In Regina Cole’s steamy novel of hot ink and delicious angst, two tortured artists take a leap of faith—but the past threatens to tear them apart.

After her parents pull the plug on her college fund to finance their nasty divorce, Hailey Jakes is desperate to pay her own way and finish her degree in graphic design. She can hardly believe her luck when the sexiest guy she’s ever seen hires her to be the receptionist at his tattoo shop. With sea-blue eyes, jet-black hair, and full sleeves of tattoos on his muscular arms, Neill Vanderhaven looks like the kind of guy who wouldn’t give her the time of day. In fact, he’s mesmerized by her—and it doesn’t hurt that she’s talented as hell.

But Hailey and Neill have more in common than instant chemistry: They’re both carrying serious baggage. Hailey’s parents split after years of blowout fights and sloppy affairs. Neill just got out of something serious with a woman who loved her bad habits more than she loved him. When they take the plunge on a new relationship, they’re both breaking their own rules.

But then a terrible misunderstanding brings Neill’s worst fears to life, and their connection threatens to come crashing down. What they have is more than skin-deep, but now Hailey and Neill need to decide whether the kind of love that lasts forever is worth such exquisite pain.

Let's Learn a Little about Regina Cole!

What is your writing environment?
Anywhere the Muse strikes me, actually! For Draw Me In I did a lot of writing in my home office, on my couch, and in my hotel room at a conference. And then I did revisions any and everywhere as I went through about seven drafts. I wish I was exaggerating, LOL! These days I do a lot of my drafting by dictation, so I talk to my phone while driving in my car. It’s the best!
Who is your perfect hero/heroine? Why?
My perfect hero/heroine is someone who’s completely human. I think our flaws make us able to relate, so I love tortured heroes and imperfect heroines. I love heroes like Neill from DRAW ME IN, who are tortured and have thick shells that the heroine must penetrate before they can be together. And I also love heroines like Hailey, who are unsure which way to turn but chase down their goals and dreams anyway.
Which authors have caught your interest lately? Why?
Hmm, this is a toughie! I’ve been on so many crazy deadlines that I haven’t been reading as much as I want, but there are a few I’ve been digging hardcore! Mary Ann Rivers is a new favorite. Her novella THE STORY GUY made me cry with happy. So good! And I’m always a sucker for a Sabrina York, Sidney Bristol, or Kelli Ireland title. Those ladies can write HAWT love scenes and super sexy heroes that visit me in my dreams.
What type of book have you always wanted to write?
At the moment my current Dying-To-Write title is a Regency-set historical with a visually impaired hero. Every time I think about those characters I long to be able to sit down and pound out that story!! Hopefully soon. My agent is shopping that title around, so fingers crossed!
Top 3 things on your bucket list
Fun question!
1.       Visit Japan. I’ve become an anime freak over the past couple of years, and I really want to take a tour all over Tokyo, and see Mt. Fuji, and visit a shrine… Yeah. Wanna go see Japan!
2.       Learn to play the guitar. I own two, an acoustic and an electric, and I’ve said multiple times that I’m going to teach myself to play. Yeah, hasn’t happened yet.
3.       Own a house built before 1940 and renovate/decorate it the way I want. There are some gorgeous historic homes in my area, and every time I see one I imagine how cool it would be to live there!
How did you get the idea for this particular novel?
I wanted to write a heroine in college, and I wanted to write another tattoo novel. When I started to think of how to mash the two together, Hailey and Neill popped into my head. The story was surprisingly easy to plan out, actually. They were just there in my brain, like that!
What is your favorite scene in your newest release?
Trying to figure out which one I can say that won’t involve spoilers! Probably the scene where Neill brings Hailey a magnolia blossom. It took a lot of effort for Neill to put himself forward like that, and though he tries to play it off as no big deal, Hailey kind of knows better. It’s sweet J
What is the last movie you watched and loved?
I’ve been on deadline so much this year that I can’t remember the last movie I sat down to watch, LOL! The last movie that I added to my collection was Pitch Perfect. LOVE that movie. The college vibe, the music, and a love story to boot? Sign me up. Can’t wait for the sequel!
What would you consider a “perfect date”?
My husband and I are so goofy. We watch cartoons all the time, professional wrestling, and we love theme parks. So yeah, I’d like to say classy dinner and dancing and the typical grownup stuff, but I’d just as soon snuggle up with hubby for an anime marathon with a takeout pizza. Yeah, I don’t think we ever grew up!
What are you currently working on?
Right now (and I hope I’m done with this way before this blog posts!) I’m working on the first book in the Sons of Cain series. This is an erotic romance novel that follows the alternative metal band Son of Cain as they find fame and love. It’ll have NA appeal, though it’s not strictly NA. I’m having a blast writing it, because these guys have a definite band-of-brothers bond, and the rockstar lifestyle is ripe with drama and hype. So fun!
