Let's Learn a little about Desiree Holt:

What is your writing environment?

My computer desk is built in to a wall unit in my great room. I have French doors on my right, a huge window on my left so I get lots of light. Plenty of desk space for the sloppy stacks of papers and book shelves that I can paste my sticky reminder notes on. Some of my stuffed animals keep my company along with my three cats. And I have a little television because I have to have sound on all the time. I tried music but then I’d sing along with it and forget to write.

Who is your perfect hero/heroine and why?

My perfect heroine is strong and feisty yet vulnerable, smart and savvy and not afraid to take chances. Willing to try new adventures because she has a zest for life. She doesn’t have a perfect body because, really, how many of us do? She makes mistakes but learns from them. Has a great capacity for love and a strong sexual appetite. In short, the woman I’d like to be. And I love a combination of strength and vulnerability.

What authors/books have caught your interest lately and why?

Marie Force’s McCarthy’s of Gansett Island series is my drug of choice. The books are so well written they just flow, the characters come alive and the love stories, well, they are just incredible. After that, Allison Brennan’s romantic suspense, Brad Thor’s political thrillers, Elizabeth Naughton’s new series.

Top 3 things on your bucket list?

Visit Alaska and take a helicopter ride over a glacier. Go to Australia and see the Snowy Mountains (I’m still hooked on the movie). Take a ride on a submarine.

How did you get the idea for this particular novel?

It’s actually based on a true story, a love story that moved me so much I had to build a novel around it. Of course, I took a lot of literary license and tweaked the characters but it was a story my heart just wanted to tell.

What is your favorite scene in your new release?

Well, my REAL favorite scene I can’t tell you because it gives away the plot, but my second favorite is the one where Luke and Julia make love for the first time, because it shows the vulnerability of both of them.

What are you working on now and when can we expect it to be available?

I am working on Forward Pass, Book One in my Game On series for Kensington, Naked Flame-Book Five in my Naked cowboys series for Samhain, and my next Rawhide book for The Wild Rose Press which is still untitled.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Read, read, read, I’m a book junkie. Watch old movies. And from August to February I watch football, read about football, talk about football, dream about football.

What is one interesting fact about you that readers don’t know?

I was once kissed by Neil Diamond and I still dream about it.
