Interview & Giveaway - Forever Man by A.J. DeWall

Forever Man

by A.J. DeWall

BLURB:

A bond forged in Catholic school, an unspoken attraction that outlasts years of separation and other relationships.

Ren and Cole never acted on that thing that always bubbled beneath the surface of their friendship, not until a chance encounter in a Santa Fe bar and a song that would tip the scales forced them to confront their feelings. Will the influence of a music superstar, a New York socialite and a mystical property manager finally bring them together, or will a history of missed opportunities, their own fears and an impending wedding keep them apart? Can they just have one night, and then walk away?

Forever Man is a story of the consequences of the choices we make, and how the courage to change can last a lifetime.

Excerpt:

Ren turns to see Cole standing not five feet away, a bit out of breath.

"Did you mean it?" Ren asks.

"Yes."

"You're in love with me?"

"Yes."

Ren doubles over again, trying to catch his breath. Cole crosses to him, rubbing his back but saying nothing. After a moment, Ren straightens out and asks, "How long?"

"I want us to be together—”

"No. How long have you been in love with me?"

The answer to this one question is all Ren needs to know. Because this man, this friend, this lover of his has always given in to whims and drama and intensity, and Ren has to be sure that he is not that. He has to be sure that this is not new.

Cole steps into Ren's space, tilts his chin up and kisses him. The kiss is firm, an answer, a promise.

"I can't remember a time when I wasn't in love with you."

Let's learn a little about A.J. DeWall

What is your writing environment?
I have a home office, but I prefer to move around. I live in a quaint village on the Hudson River, and I usually take my laptop downtown to write at my favorite café, or the library, or a restaurant.

What type of book have you always wanted to write?

A funny, romantic book with an ensemble cast and intertwining story lines. (See below!)

Top 3 things on your bucket list?

Live in Tuscany for a season. Build a Cape Cod-style summer home on Madeline Island. Learn how to take great pictures.

How did you get the idea for this particular novel?

I’m blushing as I write this, because it started with one of my go-to sexual fantasies about running into an old lover while away on business. It becamse a story I wanted to write when I took myself out of it and played the “what if” game: “What if two young men, secretly in love with each other since high school, ended up staying in the same hotel while away on business?”

What is your favorite scene in your new release?
My favorite scene is a morning-after scene, when they have both let go of all pretense; when they enjoy each other completely, without fear or reservation. It’s delicious.

What are you working on now and when can we expect it to be available?
I’m happy to say that I’ve just started plotting the book I’ve always wanted to write. It’s actually a series of books—tentatively called the North Shore series—set in a quirky little town on the North Shore of Lake Superior. There are multiple story lines, an ensemble cast of characters, and a central love story between two young men who grew up as friendly rivals and, after returning to their hometown, fall deeply in love.
If all goes well, I hope it will be available in the fall of 2015.

What would you consider a perfect date?

An afternoon at the Metropolitan Museum of Art followed by an outdoor movie and picnic in Bryant Park.

What is one interesting fact about you that readers don’t know?

My mother was an archeologist, and I lived with her in Cairo when I was six years old. It was a magical time.

  5. I enjoyed reading a bit more about the author and, wow, to live in Egypt while her mother was an archaeologist, I wonder if it was anything like Indiana Jones? I used to volunteer on digs in the UK, wet, muddy, dirty, not quite like Egypt or Indiana Jones :) I look forward to your new series, as I love reading about different characters in the same vicinity and all the intertwining lives and occurrences. I hope the blog tour is going well :)
