What is your writing environment?
Cynthia Sax: I write
on an antiqued PC (which I’ve nicknamed the Comedy 64) set on a tiny wood
veneer desk I found discarded on a curb. This computer faces a blank wall so I
don’t get distracted. My side table is the seldom used ironing board. Yes, we
writers live glamorous lives. (grins)
Who is your perfect hero/heroine and why?
Cynthia Sax: The perfect character for me is imperfect.
Flaws are interesting and make each character different. I love that Nicolas,
the billionaire in Sinful Rewards, has a sweet tooth and a secret love of
jellybeans. I love that Bee, the heroine, cleans when she’s upset (putting
everything in order makes her feel more in control). I love that Hawke, the bad
boy biker, doesn’t care what he looks like.
What authors/books have caught your interest lately and why?
Cynthia Sax: Wow. There are so many. I love Shelly Bells’
White Collared, a four part BDSM erotic romance serial. Opal Carew is always a
favorite writer of mine. J.K. Coi’s In
Bed With The Competition is a perfect summer read. I loved Christine d’Abo’s
Nailed also.
Note: I consider all of these writers friends. If I had to
recommend a writer I didn’t consider a friend, I wouldn’t have any writers to
recommend. (grins) I usually contact the writers I love and strike up a
friendship.
What type of book have you always wanted to write?
Cynthia Sax: I was THRILLED when Avon came to me with the
idea of writing a 12 novella serial because I always wanted to write a love
triangle but I never had the number of pages this type of story requires
(there’s a reason Twilight is multiple stories). Sinful Rewards is a dream book
come true for me.
Top 3 things on your bucket list?
Cynthia Sax: I would
love to be one of those mysterious donors who leaves money around cities and
then hints where these gifts are. To make so many people happy would be a
blast. I want to dye my hair bright blue. The women in my family go prematurely
gray so I’ve waited to play with hair dyes. I had the goal to friend every
erotic romance reader on Facebook. I suspect there may be more than 5,000 erotic
romance readers though which means I’ll max out my friends.
How did you get the idea for this particular novel?
Cynthia Sax: When
Avon came to me with the idea of Sinful Rewards, a 12 novella serial, I knew I
wanted to write a love triangle. I also knew one of the heroes would be a
billionaire, specifically a man who has built a real estate empire. Nicolas
builds homes for families, which I thought was kind of sweet. The challenge was
finding an equally powerful and appealing hero who would represent a different
lifestyle. Hawke, a tattooed bad boy biker, was the clear choice. He’s mobile,
he doesn’t have a personal home, and he certainly doesn’t wear suits.
What is your favorite scene in your new release?
Cynthia Sax: My favorite scene is the first time Bee sees
Hawke, the tattooed biker. She gazes through the telescope and spots him
standing on his balcony completely naked. I love this scene because it is sexy,
a bit shocking, and says so much about both Bee AND Hawke. My second favorite
scene is when Bee meets Nicolas, the billionaire. She has a fantasy of what
this first meeting will be and the reality is quite different. Nicolas isn’t
following anyone’s script!
Yes, I’m a softie for first glances/first meetings.
What are you working on now and when can we expect it to be
available?
Cynthia Sax: The
first draft of Sinful Rewards, the 12 novella serial, is completed and sent to
my agent. If I’m abducted by aliens, she’ll ensure all 12 novellas are published.
I continue to polish them though and I will continue to polish them until
they’re published. Sinful Rewards will be releasing once a month from July 2014
to June 2015. It is more than a story. It is an experience. All 12 stories will
be priced at 99 cents (if you see it for more, contact me because that’s a
mistake). This is less than the price of convenience store chocolate bar.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Cynthia Sax: We, writers, love our jobs which is a good
thing because writing is a 70 hour plus week job. The hubby and I also love to
travel (writing can be done anywhere) and, of course, I love to read. I speed
read and average an erotic romance a day.
What is one interesting fact about you that readers don’t know?
Cynthia Sax: I’m
pretty much an open book with readers. (grins – pun intended) I love to write
about billionaires, which will come as no surprise to readers. But they might
be surprised to know that I’ve met real life billionaires. You know what?
They’re regular people who just happen to have a talent that other people
consider valuable.
