Torrent
Author: Gemma James
Genre: New Adult/Dark Erotic Romance
Release Date: July 22, 2014
"Torrent" is a very dark tale of a young woman, Alexandra (Alex,) who has been controlled by the men in her life for most of her life. Her mother married Abott DeLuca when Alex was young and Abott adopted her. He came with a son, Zach. Even though Alex would be considered her 'brother' he forces her into a sexual relationship where violence becomes the norm. Alex learns very quickly to comply in order to avoid further pain and degradation at her step-brother's hands. She has to live with intense guilt when her mother catches Zach in her bed. Even though she was not willing, her mother does not wait for an explanation but commits suicide in the face of her, believed, daughter's indiscretion.
Alex can never have a real romance as Zach beats every man she comes to care for and intimidates anyone who may come to even get close to her. While suffering at the dark passions of her step-brother, she is being stalked by Rafe, a man she sent to prison for a crime he did not commit. Her life becomes a series of agony-ridden desires and we feel her pain as we breathlessly turn each page.
This story captured my attention and I found myself finishing it in only one night! ~JoEllen

Gemma James (a pseudonym for Christina Jean Michaels) loves to explore the darker side of sex in her fiction. She's morbidly curious about anything dark and edgy and enjoys exploring the deviant side of human nature. Her stories have been described as being ""not for the faint of heart."" She lives with her husband and their four children--three rambunctious UFC/wrestling-loving boys and one girl who steals everyone's attention.
Hummm, this sounds interesting! I love the cover and the playlist is quite good! Thanks for sharing, Sue! :)
