Book Tour and Giveaway - Something To Lose by Tamra Lassiter

Something to Lose

BLURB:

Everyone has something to lose.

Camden Piotrowski is justifiably upset to find her boyfriend in the arms of another woman. But it’s not the end of her world and definitely not something that a bubble bath, good wine, and cookie dough won’t help. Her pity party is interrupted when handsome Seth Vendetti bursts into her bathroom. She soon discovers that her world and those in it are not as they seem. Can she trust Seth’s version of the truth and make him realize that even he has something to lose?

Excerpt:

His hands form fists that rest on his hips. “Are you threatening an FBI agent?”

I hadn’t really thought of it like that, but I’m not backing down. I put my hands on my hips as well and stand on my tippy toes so that my face is close to his. I could use those three-inch heels right about now, but I hold my ground. His body is tight. I see his pulse beating in his neck.

“Call it what you want. Just get out of my house.”

His hands move behind my neck. He pulls me to him and before I even know what’s happening, he’s kissing me and even more surprising, I’m kissing him, too. His strong fingers move up and down my back as his lips work their magic on mine. I thought I’d been kissed before, but never have I been kissed like this. I still don’t see fireworks, instead I am the firework. Heat explodes from my lips down my throat and to the rest of my body. This isn’t the warmth of fairy tales where the prince and princess kiss their happily-ever-after. This is the battle of the dragon and I don’t know what because my brain is no longer working.

His stubble scratches my chin and the sensation kindles the fire even more. My stomach lurches and I feel weightless, light as a feather now, falling from high in the sky. His hands move to my hips and he pulls me to him tightly. He kisses my chin and then my neck and down to the opening of my robe.

It’s like I wake up from some out-of-body experience to find myself full of lust and clinging to a complete stranger. His hand slips into my robe. I startle and jump back, hugging myself with one hand, the other covering my mouth as my eyes go wide in complete disbelief.

10 Things most people don’t know about me

1. I used to work on a pit crew. Yep, I changed tires and oil and even a transmission once. I was the only woman (at the time) who was on a pit crew for the Ferrari Challenge race series. I worked for Ferrari of Washington and did all the same work that the men did. It was a great experience.

2. Along that same vein, I got a speeding ticket in a Ferrari once when I was driving it from the track to the dealership. The cop who gave me the ticket was super-excited about the car, but I still had to pay the fine. I don’t think he would have been nearly as impressed with the Dodge Shadow that I drove at the time.

3. I piloted a DDG-51 Destroyer. Back in my engineering days, I worked for a U.S. Navy contractor. I sailed on many ship trials. That’s where the shipyard sails the ship around for a few days to ensure that everything is working properly before turning it over to the Navy. On one of these trials, I piloted the ship for 30 minutes and even made a course change. Sometimes being a young woman works to your advantage.

4. I’ve been to Loch Ness. We didn’t see Nessy when we were there, well unless you count the statue outside the gift shop.

5. I like Classic Country music. My friends know that I’m a lover of 80’s music, especially 80’s alternative. My good friends know that I’m also a huge fan of George Jones and Dolly Pardon. My iPod spans just about the entire spectrum.

6. I hate olives. I think they taste horrible, but at least they don’t go to waste since the rest of my family LOVES them.

7. I don’t like to ski. The rush of the air in your face as you fly down the mountain…not for me. No way. I’ve tried a few times and I’ve even been told by an instructor that I have good technique. I just can’t get over feeling of being out of control and plunging to my death.

8. I believe in ghosts. I’m not psychic or anything, but I do think that there’s something to all of that. There are some places that I go where I feel completely creeped out, like I’m not alone. My grandmother’s house is an example. She had one bedroom upstairs that gave me the heebie jeebies. You could just feel that someone or something was there. Even when I was out in the field behind her house, it felt like someone was standing in the bedroom window watching me. I’m not the only one who felt it either. Creepy, right?

9. I lived in Sardenia, Italy when I was in Kindergarten and the 1st grade and had to take a boat to school every day. My dad was in the Navy and was stationed there. Every morning I took a bus, a ferry, and then a bus to get to the American school that was on a different island. I had to repeat the procedure on the way home.

10. I walked in the Avon Walk to raise money to help those with breast cancer. I walked all 39 miles. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. If you ever have the opportunity, do it!

    1. Living in Italy was awesome! I remember a lot about our time there, even if I was pretty young. Also, SOMETHING TO LOSE was categorized as Mild by RT Book Reviews. Just want to make sure that's what you're expecting when you read it. :)

    1. I think my past experiences give me a huge amount of material to pull from for my writing. I mostly use my memories of places I've been and things that I like and don't like. My trips to Canandaigua inspired me to write about it in SOMETHING TO LOSE. My earlier novels are set in the D.C. area, where I live. Lots of memories to pull from here. Thanks Karen for all your great questions!
