Blurb:

How did my life get so broken?
It's a question Lacey St. James asks herself every day.  Stuck raising her little brother in a trailer park while she works a dead end job at a grocery store, she has a stalker ex-boyfriend, a bad reputation, and no way out.

And then she meets Everett, whose presence changes her life.

Everett is an enigmatic outsider who is only visiting for the summer, and for reasons Lacey can't understand, he seems completely transfixed by her. He's determined to show her that life can offer more than she'd ever hoped for, if only she believes in herself.  She desperately yearns to trust him, but what happens when she finds out that everything he's told her is a lie?

My Review:

I loved this book and how the story just drew me in!  Lacey's life is at a new low when she meets a man who totally captivates her.  All she wants is to leave her small town and her life there behind her but she is unable to leave her little brother alone in the hands of her very dysfunctional family.  Her nightmare of a life is just getting worse when she meets Everett, an outsider visiting for the summer.  Everett doesn't know her or her past and only sees a strong and beautiful woman.  Lacey is such a great lady who does all she can to get through each day, she is determined to watch out for her young brother even if it means being stuck in a bad situation with a bad reputation.  She has been both used and abused by most everyone she has ever cared about since moving to Mississippi.  Everett is a sweetheart who finds himself falling for this scared young lady and he wants to protect her as well help her make a better life for herself with him as a part of it.  Everett has a past that he refuses to share with Lacey and a secret that could tear their developing relationship apart.  This story was both beautiful and heart wrenching, I found myself totally absorbed while reading it and finished it in one day because I was unable to put it down.  It has suspense, chemistry and love blended to make a wonderful tale.  This book is so well-written and entertaining that I am adding the wonderful Sara Fawkes to my author watch list. ~ Booklover Sue
