Movie Review - Riddick

Riddick (R) Science-fiction/Action/Thriller

Movie Blurb:

Left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, Riddick finds himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick's past.

Review by Booklover Sue:

This was an entertaining science fiction adventure but I recommend you watch the 2 previous films, Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, to fully enjoy this movie.  Vin Diesel returns as the ever popular murdering convict Riddick and does a really good job portraying this murderer with heart as was evident in his rescue of an alien pup-like creature.  The story starts off pretty much where The Chronicles of Riddick ended so this series of movies are flowing very well.  The special effects were awesome while the storyline was similar to Pitch Black.  Riddick is stranded on planet with alien creatures and has to survive both them and mercenaries to continue in his quest for finding his home world Furya.  This story is heavy in the one-line humor and in Riddick's ghost-like ability to appear, kill and disappear.  Many interesting mercenary characters but one really stood out and that was Dahl, played by Katee Sackhoff.  The only woman and one kick-butt babe.

I enjoyed this movie as an interesting and entertaining Sci-Fi adventure comedy thriller it was produced to be.  I should warn you that there are some gory and gruesome scenes so squeamish viewers beware.  I rated this 6.75 out of 10 and the Movie Appreciation Club's average score was 6.41.
