Movie Review : Mortal Instruments-City of Bones

Mortal Instruments - City of Bones

A movie Review by Jo Ellen Eisaman, co-founder of The Movie Appreciation Club

What a sad way to spend $20.00. "Mortal Instruments - City of Bones" is a story of a 'down-world' hidden among the everday strains of what we consider our average, hum-drum, large city. According to this tale, there are demons running amok ready to take a life or make bad things happen. There are vampires, creatures and pit-bull monsters with really long paws. The only fun is the bad-guys announce there are no zombies.  Huh? No Zombies! What's up with that?

The story never develops, the actors never really connect and the make up, especially with the vampires, is less than high-school grade. Local make-up specialist, Carol Peterman could teach them a thing or two.  Because there was some mild - yawn - interest in a scene or two, and because actor, Jamie Campbell Bower who plays the hero, Jace, was kind-of cute, I gave this film a 3. Our movie club, some members of which never score anything below a 6, gave this waste-of-money, less-than-B-grade, movie a 3.5.
