Synopsis

Rowan Callahan is a career-climbing slut. At least according to the vicious—and false—rumor that is destroying her professional life. But a little thing like her career as an attorney ceases to matter when a plane crashes in downtown Chicago and the entire city goes dark. Her unconventional upbringing makes her suspect the worst: she’s just witnessed the kick-off to the apocalypse. Armed with a backpack of supplies, she leaves Chicago, intent on resetting her skewed priorities and seeking shelter at the family farm with her father and sister. She’s injured and running for her life when she stumbles directly in the crosshairs of two men who just might be her salvation . . . and her greatest temptation.

Graham Buchanan and Zachariah Sawyer are best friends and brothers-in-arms who have been indulging in ménages since before their Force Recon team served in Iraq and Afghanistan. They’ve hung up their uniforms to build a new life for themselves and their team at Castle Creek Whitetail Ranch—a rustic deer hunting preserve that covertly doubles as a doomsday prepper’s paradise. They thought they were prepared for anything until Rowan comes crashing into their lives. Graham and Zach are convinced she’s the one woman who can handle them both, but she has no intention of deviating from her carefully laid plans for longer than it takes her to recover from her injuries. So they propose a deal: they’ll provide her an armed escort home, and in exchange, she’s theirs until they part ways.

It was the perfect plan; except once they've had her, they can’t let her go.

Meet the Author

MeghanMarchPic

Meghan March is a Michigan native who has spent a good portion of her life buried in a book. Case in point: she read the entire romance section of her small town public library by age fourteen. Even after growing up (sort of) and getting a law degree, she never lost her passion for a great story, twisty plot, epic romance, and amazing characters. When she’s not writing, she’s probably reading, target shooting, drooling over fast cars, playing with her crazy mutts, or hanging with her very own sexy man.

excerpt
Chapter 1

September—Chicago.

A plane fell from the sky.

It was quite possibly the only interruption that could have dragged Rowan out of the epic pity party she was throwing herself. It was the kind of pity party one threw when a carefully planned life and decades of hard work were demolished by a complete and utter shit storm. And not demolition by a run-of-the-mill shit storm. A shit mudslide, followed by a category five shit hurricane. Rowan doubted anything other than the plane, the fifty-story building it toppled and the hundreds of lives that had been violently and tragically cut short could have pushed the thoughts of the lying asshole and blackballing bitch who owned his sad sack from her mind.

Rowan had to swallow back the bile that rose when what she’d just seen started to sink in. The loss of life ... What the hell just happened?

The symphony of honking horns that filled the Chicago streets died abruptly, right in time with the falling plane. For a single moment, the lunchtime crowds on North Wacker Drive completely stilled.

A beat of silence.

Then chaos erupted.

“We’re under attack!” a woman screamed. She was only three feet away from Ro, and her screech nearly ruptured an eardrum. Terrorists. Okay. That makes sense. Doesn’t it?

“Run!” a large man in a suit shouted as flames burst from the collapsing building.

Traffic stood still. The familiar sound of idling engines and car radios was eerily absent. Rowan’s gaze darted around frantically. The traffic lights and DO NOT WALK signs were dark. There were no fire truck sirens screaming toward the building that was quickly becoming a fully involved inferno. No ambulances were rushing to the scene to try to save potential survivors.

A greasy feeling of panic pooled in Ro’s stomach. Loud popping noises punctured through the sounds of chaos as the glass globes of the nearby light poles shattered before bursting into flames.

Without taking her eyes from the disaster playing out before her, Ro rooted around in her bag for her cell phone. Her panic spiked when she pressed the button and swiped her finger across the darkened screen. Nothing. It had been nearly fully charged when she’d unplugged it from the charger on her desk only twenty minutes ago. Ro’s continued furious pressing of buttons did nothing to bring it to life.

Her brain snapped into focus. No way. It’s not possible.

A firefighter crashed into her bistro table as he ran toward the burning building. Her uncapped bottle of iced tea toppled, spilling onto her lap. The splash of cold liquid freed Rowan from her temporary paralysis, just as three other firefighters ran past. Thank God help is on the way. In that moment, she made her decision. She reached down to yank off her pumps, swapped them for the ballet flats in her bag, and started to run.

I am a huge fan of books about apocalypses and when romance is an added element, I am totally ready to read that book.  Flash Bang is exactly that book, a fantastic blend of romance, action, and end of the world craziness!  I was hooked on page one and had a very difficult time putting it down before reading "The End".  Rowan is in Chicago when the unexpected happens, no power, crashing airplanes and burning buildings.  She decides to go home and seek shelter with her doomsday predicting father and sister on the family's farm.  Rowan is such a strong and determined woman, I was silently cheering her on as she attempts this dangerous journey.  Graham and Zachariah are best friends who share many things, including women.  They are retired from the military and work at a deer hunting preserve which also is a survivalist's dream.  These three very stubborn characters cross paths and sparks fly.  The sexual chemistry is off the charts and I loved how their relationship developed.  I highly recommend this fantastic romance and am so looking forward to more books in this series. ~Booklover Sue

Spotlight & Interview - Hate To Love You by Elise Alden

Hate To Love You
by Elise Alden

Blurb:

Despite my slutty reputation, I was technically a virgin at eighteen. But it turns out all those sex-ed teachers aren’t just trying to scare you. The faint positive on the budget pregnancy test sent me spinning, moments before I was supposed to meet my snooty sister’s new fiancé.

Shaking hands with upper-crusty James was like downing a triple shot of vodka. Dizzy with desire, confused by my body’s reaction, and shocked by the possessiveness flashing in his eyes, I deceived him that night and told the world at their wedding reception.

The truth?

I slept with my sister’s fiancé. Hot and sweaty, all night long in a room so dark he couldn’t tell I wasn’t her.

The lie?

Said fiancé is the father of my child. The one I signed over my rights to just before he was born.

That was seven years ago.

It’s time to come clean.

Let's learn a little about Elise Alden:
First of all I’d like to thank Sue for featuring my novel, Hate To Love You, and for interviewing me.
Booklover Sue:  How did you get the idea for Hate To Love You?
I was drinking margaritas with a few friends, talking about our children and how we tell them off for fibbing. We got to discussing honesty and deceit and what kind of lies are unforgivable. I said I could never forgive someone for a lie that destroyed my life, no matter the circumstances. That’s when my abrasive, straight talking heroine, Paisley, popped into my head and told me to write her story and see if it changed my mind. Boy, did it ever!
Booklover Sue:  What is your favorite scene in your new release?
The ‘Vampire Sultan’s’ bridal suite, when James walks in and sees Paisley, and then comforts her. It’s funny and sexy, and yet it’s also heart-breaking and poignant.  I cried when I wrote it, feeling Paisley’s pain and hopelessness at James and Caroline’s wedding. It made me more determined than ever to find them a ‘happy ever after’.
Booklover Sue:  When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
Funny thing is, I never dreamed of being a writer. On 3rd January, 2012 I complained about not having anything to read and my husband dared me to write my own book. Not being one to turn down a challenge, I got to work and here I am, a few years and several novels later, still pinching myself in disbelief!
Booklover Sue:  What is your writing process?
I need music, and plenty of it. As each novel progresses and I get a feel for the tone and voice, I compile a soundtrack and stick to it until the book is finished. Every day, as soon as I sit down in front of my MAC, I click on my compilation and listen while I re-read what I wrote the day before. Once that’s done I’m in ‘the zone’. Because I have to split myself between editing my novels and writing my current projects, a specific CD immediately transports me into whichever world I need to be in—whether it’s the novel I’m working on with my editor, or the one I’m currently writing.
Booklover Sue:  If you could be anything BUT a writer, what would you be?
No hesitation, I would be a wedding planner. Stressful, possibly, but nothing short of writing would fill me with more joy than helping people celebrate the day they make that wonderful commitment.
Booklover Sue:  What are some of your all time favorite books?
I read in so many different genres that this question is a difficult one to answer. For sweeping 17th Century romance with gritty realism, Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor is my all time favourite. Another historical romance that gripped me from the first sentence is M.M. Kaye’s The Far Pavilions.  Fun and unforgettable, A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams, still makes me laugh. Anything by Juliet Marillier will make me froth at the mouth, as will books by urban fantasy writers, Ilona Andrews and Richelle Mead.
Booklover Sue:  Do you have a genre that you can see yourself writing in the future?
I love writing romance, but I’ve got a children’s adventure series planned and a few YA novels inside my head—if I ever find the time to get them onto the page.
Booklover Sue:  What are you working on now and when can we expect it to be available?
I’m working on my first space opera romance, Black Hole Bounty, which will be released by Secret Cravings Publishing on August 19th  under the pen name, Sienna Bronwyn. My second contemporary romance with Carina Press Pitch ImPerfect, will be available on October 20th.
Booklover Sue:  What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I play the piano, and my ambition is to master William Bolcom’s ragtime classic, Graceful Ghost, before I die. I’m nowhere near getting it right, so I guess that’s a good thing.
Booklover Sue:  What would you consider a perfect date?
Setting doesn’t matter and neither does food or entertainment. The look on his face, the nervous twitch in my lips, the undeniable sense I want to get down and dirty. The electric connection that tells me this is a man I want to spend more time with.
Booklover Sue:  Top 3 things on your bucket list?
I’d love to conquer my fear of heights—and chickens! Next on my list would be a second honeymoon in Egypt. It seems pretty dangerous there at the moment but I’ve always hankered after seeing the pyramids and swimming in the Red Sea. Lastly, I would love to learn Mandarin. My great-grandfather was from Beijing and we used to speak it together when I was little, but I’ve since forgotten.
Booklover Sue:  What is one interesting fact about you that readers don’t know?
During university days in Rio de Janeiro I supplemented my income by dancing salsa on stage with a band called Esencia Latina. I received 10% of the door charge, but it was enough to pay for a few books and maybe a meal or two.

About the Author:
Who am I?
I proudly admit it. I am a woman who reads, writes and revels in romance. I’m no teenybopper but I’m young enough to wear stilettos and notice a pair of muscular thighs. Butterflies make me happy and I love ruined castles – the more remote the better. I carry my country’s flag in my backpack in case I get the urge to wave something other than my finger. People who don’t swear make me nervous and if they also don’t drink I have been known to hyperventilate. I am unabashedly irreverent and by extension I excel at profanity.
Recently, I was surrounded by mid-life crises so I decided to have one of my own: I gave up my office job to be a stay-at-home-mum, dreamer and writer of romance novels. Notice I did not say cook, which comes as a relief to my family. I am wife to a man who urged me to find my passion and has gone beyond the call of duty to allow me to pursue it. He won’t iron though, but them’s the breaks.
What do I write about?
Flawed people. I love creating them, giving them conflicts and seeing what they do. I write stories about imperfect people doing imperfect things, and those who are destined to love them. Some of my characters are suffering or have suffered. Others are clueless or abrasive, or sometimes lost. But none are whingers or see themselves as victims because then I’d have to kill them off.
Warning: In my novels you won’t find ‘fade to black’ or chaste kisses with the odd, longing look. I write sizzle-your-socks-off graphic nookie because I revel in reading it. Realistic, gritty and sometimes funny sex. Passionate, with the vocabulary to match!
As Elise Alden I write contemporary and historical romances. If you fancy taking a romantic whirl around space opera or fantasy check out my other self, Sienna Bronwyn.

ARC review - Awakened (The Belladonna Agency series #2) by Virna DePaul

Awakened

My Review:

This is the second book in the Belladonna series and I really enjoyed the story of Barrett and Nick.  Barrett works for Belladonna and is trying to rescue a girl that Barrett had promised to protect from a sex ring run by born vampires.  She needs a computer genius to help track down video feed and decides to team up with Nick, a former lover.  Nick works for the government as well and is tracking made vampires.  He agrees to help Barrett, hoping that he will get a chance at winning back Barrett's love.  The chemistry between the two is pretty intense but secrets could force them apart.  This story has adventure, suspense and romance all beautifully twined together to give the reader a great story.  Barrett is a strong and determined woman who has never gotten over Nick but is unsure whether she wants to trust him with her heart.  Nick is a man who will do whatever is necessary for the people he loves, even if it is not what he wants.  I have read the first book but don't believe it is needed to enjoy this story (Turned is a fantastic book and I do recommend it to lovers of paranormal romantic suspense readers).  I am hoping that there will be more books in this wonderful series. ~Booklover Sue

Spotlight - A Love of Conviction (Settlers Series book 2) by Melanie Corona

Eliza Taylor was convicted and transported for the crime of stealing. She suffers being put in chains, locked up and degraded, to the point where life holds no meaning. Kept prisoner in the dark hold of a ship bound for a penal colony, Eliza is at the mercy of men who, at every turn, threaten to use her to their advantage. Eliza encounters obstacles she never dreamed she would face but is determined to conquer them to gain her freedom. The cost of her freedom is high, and the villainous sergeant in charge will do everything in his power to use her for his own vengeful purposes.

Excerpt:

“Eliza. That is your name, isn’t it?” I nodded my head, not taking my eyes off him. He seemed quite young for what I was expecting. Mid to late thirties maybe, and he certainly had that air of authority surrounding him. His hair was blacker than mine, and his eyes were dark and serious. He sat in his chair, leaning into the back of it with his head resting on his fisted hand. He almost looked bored–almost. “Do you talk?”

Still not taking my eyes off him, I replied simply, “Yes.”

“Will you excuse us, Hank?” I looked to Hank. He nodded his head and left through the door we entered. When it clicked shut, the captain rose to his feet. He was a tall man, not as bulky as Hank, but he appeared strong and virile. He wore snug-fitting pants with boots up to his knees, and an off-white shirt that looked so soft I could rub my face in it. He was not particularly handsome. The lines on his face were quite hard. Actually, he made me feel scared. “I hope you’ve been treated well.”

I snorted my laugh and gave him a sharp look. “If being treated well means being knocked out and left for dead in a small, rodent-infested, smelly hole, and fed something that tastes like it has been scrapped off the floor of the galley, then yes, I think you have given us a voyage to remember.” My gaze didn’t waver. The captain just gave me a smirk and crossed his arms over his chest. His hair was just long enough to put it in a tie at the nape of his neck. Some of it had come loose, and he tucked it absently behind his ear.

“Well then, I’m glad I was able to accommodate you.” He was laughing at me. I just raised my chin and waited for him to say what he wanted to say. “You know why you are here?”

Playlist for A Love of Conviction

I was born in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia, and raised in Alice Springs (the very center of the country). I have always loved reading and telling "tall tales" and wrote poetry all the time. My greatest influence was my grandpa Majid who kept us entertained all the time with his stories, music and passion for writing.
I didn't tell anyone I wrote when I started because I was to shy, I have no idea why I was like that. I don't care now, I have stories to tell and I want to share them. I am not, and never will profess to be an awesome writer, but I will try to entertain, while bringing to life the history of my country, one page at a time.

Book Description:

Can a kidnapped fairy and a human find love despite all odds?

Nathan Alexander’s batty aunt has done it again. This time she’s sent him a rare plant he doesn’t want. Imagine his surprise when he finds a kidnapped fairy hidden within its leaves. As a man who heads a non-profit organization for abused women and children, Nathan makes it his mission to help her find her way home.
All her life Katenia was warned about the evilness of humans. Never was that proved more true than when she was kidnapped from her quiet valley home. Thrust into the human world, Katenia must fight her very instincts to trust Nathan if she ever hopes to return to her rightful place…and to her normal thumb-sized fairy form.
But with their lives in danger, finding home…and love…will be a journey worthy of a fairy tale.

 Excerpt:

“Nathan? Are you alright? You look like you’re contemplating ways to kill me.”

He opened his eyes and glared at her, even as he let out a shuddering laugh. “No, Katenia,” he gritted out through clenched teeth. “Killing you is not what is on my mind. I thought you said we would be a bad idea?”

“I did,” she said, her beautiful face screwing up in confusion. “Pair-bonding between us would never work. Sex, however…sex is a very good idea.”

Nathan nodded once, finally understanding. Ignoring the honking of the line of cars behind him, he rolled up one shirtsleeve and pinched his arm.

“What are you doing?” she asked, her voice worried.

He barked out a laugh when the pain did nothing to wake him from whatever dream he’d landed in. “Testing myself.”

“Oh.” She sighed. “I don’t know what that means.”

“I don’t, either, but considering I am not certifiable enough to have sex with a fairy, the only other logical conclusion is I’m dreaming.”

“Oh,” she repeated, still sounding confused. “Are you dreaming?”

He sighed and shook his head, accepting the facts laid out before him. “No. My whole world view has just been altered, but unfortunately, I am not dreaming.”

Excerpts:
Tasting Cherry ~
I grabbed Cherry by the arms and pulled her close. I hadn’t suspected those details. Honestly.
I thought back again to my first time with Denise. She spent hours gently nudging me from the awkward, nervous nipple sucker to a skilled clit-manipulator, G-spot hunter, and dick-dunker.
Still wrapped in my arms, I led Cherry to the kitchen table. “You probably feel ashamed, right?”
She nodded.
“Embarrassed, too, huh?”
She nodded and sniffled. “My mom didn’t talk to me for days. I wanted her to understand I was just curious, you know. I’ve been this goody-two-shoes girl all my life. I mean, it was just a cucumber. Then I thought, you know, some guys have their first time with professionals. Why can’t I? I just want to know…to feel…be filled…” Her breath hitched and she shook within my hold.
So close in each other’s space, I breathed in her heady scent of fresh berries. Something else teased my nose; a light sweet vanilla that damn near made my mouth water. I wedged my finger under her chin and tilted her face to mine. I looked into those pools of green innocence as they stared back at me, pleading with me to take the ignorance away, to turn the curiosity into fulfillment.
Refusing wasn’t even an option. Every part of me amped up to… Blow. Her. Fucking. Mind.
Leaning forward, I grazed my lips across hers, whispering, “Don’t ever be ashamed or embarrassed by your sexuality.” I cupped a hand to the back her neck, feeling shivers trail through her as I nibbled her ear and whispered again. “Mr. Baltimore’s going to take it all away, Cherry-baby.”
She sucked a breath through her teeth. “Please…take it…please…”

A View to Ecstasy ~
“Do you need to stop?” I asked.
“Hell no, Baltimore,” Marie answered. Sugary-sweet Snickerdoodle breath filled the space between us. “I can still move. I’m not done until you both break me in two.” A lust-filled grin kissed her lips. She flicked her tongue at me.
I flipped her around so she faced her husband. Her nipples jutted firm, dark and delicious like chocolate chunks, body ready for another rough fuck. I tore the condom wrapping with my teeth, pushing the latex free from the bottom of the package. With one-handed-experience, I rolled my helmet on, gripped Marie by the hips, and held her high above my cock. After one good bounce on the bed, I was thrusting upward into her leaking entrance.
She tossed her head back in ecstasy, pleading for me to fuck her harder.

Retreat Bound ~
“You’re late, Mallory.” His voice, so beautiful to my ears in that just-above-a-baritone kind of vibe, signaled disappointment.
I caught his gaze then cast my look downward. His smoky dark eyes were lust-filled and held a glint of mischief. “I’m sorry, Sir. It won’t happen again.”
I watched his shadow wave in dismissal of my words. “It will. You have certain obligations.” He paused, his voice husky as he spoke again. “But you know what this means.”
My nipples hardened and ached in anticipation. The first few times he’d practiced punishing me at my place, it went so well a couple of the neighbors thought something bad was happening. They had no clue my screams of pain were expressions of blissed out pleasure. Unlike my last Dom, Master Baltimore didn’t like the ball gag. He said it took away the music; that hearing me vocalize the joy and pain he brought me was kin to Mozart hearing his masterpieces conducted and played to perfection. So he turned one of the empty retreat rooms into his very own playground. I’ve been coming and cumming ever since.
“To me,” he commanded.
I glanced back at him, stuck in place by the need seething in his eyes. The hunger…

Bound to Collide ~
Warm fingers splayed upon my back, pressed firm, crushing me to his chest with reckless abandon.  His strong arms held me so close I dared not do more than grasp a hold of him and cling for dear life.
We shuffle-kissed to the bottom of the stairs. We’d barely made it up to the single curve in the stairs, before he broke the kiss, huffing out, “I can’t.”
“Can’t what?” My breasts swelled in his presence. My nipples ached for his touch. I needed the full length of him drilling into the depths of my pussy. What was with the ‘can’t’?
A glint shone in his eyes. I should’ve known better than to question him. “I can’t wait,” he growled. He peeled my slacks and panties off in one fell swoop. The clothes pooled in a heap at the foot of the stairs.

About the Author:
Rayven Godchild is an author of erotica/erotic romance short stories, novels and novellas. Her first published work appeared in a fit of obscurity during a tumultuous time in life. That story, Secret Lilies, will see the light of day again with a lot less stress and a lot more joy surrounding its republication in the very near future.
Currently, the Confessions of a Sex Fiend short stories are working their way out into the world, with the first one, Tasting Cherry, as Rayven’s re-debut as an author. A View to Ecstasy and Retreat Bound are available. Bound to Collide is the final confession, but certainly not the last the world will hear from Chancellor Baltimore.
