Author Interview & Blog Giveaway - Hunt The Dawn (Fatal Dreams book 2) by Abbie Roads

Hunt The Dawn
Fatal Dreams, Book 2
by Abbie Roads

Out of darkness and danger

You can’t hide your secrets from Lathan Montgomery—he can read your darkest memories. And while his special abilities are invaluable in the FBI’s hunt for a serial killer, he has no way to avoid the pain that brings him. Until he is drawn to courageous, down-on-her-luck Evanee Brown and finds himself able to offer her something he’s never offered another human being: himself.

Dawns a unique and powerful love

Nightmares are nothing new to Evanee Brown. But once she meets Lathan, they plummet into the realm of the macabre. Murder victims are reaching from beyond the grave to give Evanee evidence that could help Lathan bring a terrifying killer to justice. Together, they could forge an indomitable partnership to thwart violence, abuse, and death—if they survive the forces that seek to tear them apart.

Talking with Abbie Roads!

How did you get the idea for this particular novel?

I started writing this book way back in 2011 and worked on it for two and half years. At one point I trashed the version I’d written and started over from scratch rewriting the whole thing. So my memory is a bit fuzzy…
Books don’t come to me fully formed. They come in pieces and parts as I’m writing them. One of the essential elements to this book is Lathan’s ability with “Scent Memories.” Let me explain a bit about how it works.
Each time we form a memory, our brains automatically link the scent in the air with that memory. It’s unconscious. For example, every time I smell Eternity cologne I think of my high school boyfriend. I certainly don’t want to think about my high school boyfriend, but my brain does it automatically.
Before I started writing HUNT THE DAWN, I played around with the idea of scent memories. Asking myself what if… Until I came up with Lathan’s ability to see other people’s scent memories.

What is your favorite scene in your new release?

What? You want me to pick just one? It’s like asking me to choose a favorite child.
But if I had to choose, I’d say it’s the scene where Lathan and Evanee meet. I love that Lathan recognizes something is different within himself in those first moments of seeing her. I love that he protects her and doesn’t judge her, but takes care of her. He’s a pure hero in those moments.

What are you working on now and when can we expect it to be available?

Right now I’m expecting proof pages for Saving Mercy which is Book 1 in the Fatal Truth Series—out April 4, 2017. It’s similar to the Fatal Dreams series, but just a smidgen different. I’m also writing Book 3 in the Fatal Dreams Series. It’s Thomas’s story and will be out late spring/early summer 2018.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

I really enjoy my day job! I’m a mental health counselor. One of the essential components of my job is listening to people’s stories. There’s a lot more involved, but at its core every hour is story hour!
On my days off from my counseling job and when I’m not writing, I enjoy going on nature walks with my husband, loving on my fur babies, and binge watching shows on Netflix.

What is one interesting fact about you that readers don’t know?

The only bone I’ve ever broken was my middle finger. I had to wear a splint for weeks. Which was kinda fun because it looked like I was flipping everyone the bird, but had a medical reason for doing so!

Top 3 Things on your bucket list.
Visit England.
Visit Ireland.
Be a best seller.

Do you have a genre that you can see yourself writing in the future?

Paranormal Romance. I’ve had an idea for a paranormal romance cooking in the back of my head for years! But I’ve been too busy writing my romantic suspense novels with paranormal elements to even give it a try. Someday…

Glad to believe this series is doing the job! Thank you for the opportunity as money is toght for a college student who is married with 2 teens! It means FREE books are my passion but sorting out those that cant keep my eyes open gets tiresome so i love finding great authors! Happy new years!
