Let's learn a little about V.S. Nelson:

What is your writing environment?

I had to laugh when I saw this question. Right now, I’d have to say my writing environment is a mess; in fact its one big disaster zone. Rearranging your house is never easy; rearranging your writing area is just as bad. My extra large L-shaped desk which sits in my living room is currently cluttered with notes, stacks of papers, binders, RWR magazines and more since every sprint I tend to file or pack things away. Under the table part of the L-shape contains several boxes, also filed with binders and things I need to perform my duties as a chapter membership director. My file cabinet is overflowing; it too is getting stripped for the upcoming year. Living room bookcases are being stripped down as well. In the middle of projects like this I have this sudden urge to go buy a new house. I think moving would be better than stripping everything down, packing it away and starting a new.  What do you think? Is a new house logical or should I keep at it?

Who is your perfect hero/heroine? Why?
I definitely like strong heroines or at least ones who have the potential to grow into the woman they were meant to be. Shy, weak, lip biting heroines who cower to their male counterparts tend to turn me off… Now that I’ve said that I will say I do enjoy watching (or reading) the females journey – where she finds her strength to stand up for what is right and the strength to say NO. Jennifer, the heroine from Eternal Lovers, book one in my Sekhmet’s Guardian series was way too weak for my liking. Hammered down for years, she learned how to hide her unique abilities. She held back her true nature until she met her destined true love, Gabriel then began to find the courage within herself to fight for what she truly believes in. No longer afraid of her own shadow or what others might think, she now leads a band of female warriors, ones who intend on saving the human race.
Heroes – I like strong men with flaws, bad boys and ones who aren’t afraid to love fearlessly.

Which authors have caught your interest lately? Why?
Sharon Hamilton and her military romances have occupied my latest reading seat. Why, her voice resonates with her character’s strengths.

What type of book have you always wanted to write?
I think every writer wants to write the kind of book that does two things. First off, a novel that you can’t put down and secondly one that might impact the reader in such a way the underlying plot resonates something in their real life.

Top 3 things on your bucket list:
(1) Return to Egypt. I’ve been to Egypt five times, lived there twice and consider it my home away from home. Hubby and I planned to retire there but that plan was recently put on hold due to the current situation. Hopefully in the not to far future things will calm down and I can sit on the shores of Alexander writing.
(2) Take Hubby to Hawaii and Tahiti. Although I’ve been to Hawaii, he hasn’t. Neither one of us have been to Tahiti and both always wanted to visit the islands. Can anyone say second honeymoon?
(3) The author in me screams, New York Times best selling list – the artist in me would like to see Sekhmet’s Guardians on the big screen.

How did you get the idea for this particular novel?
The series developed years ago through my dreams. Book Four, Eternal Tuat came about from my readers who wrote me asked several questions about Bagsu, including; how did he become so evil. Rather than fill up endless pages in the other volumes I made the decision to allow his story to be shared in a single book and so Eternal Tuat was born.

What is your favorite scene in your newest release?
My favorite scene is the last two chapters where he is turned into the evil creature he is today. The hardest one to write was the death scene of Nefer-her. It literally took me weeks to get it right since I kept breaking down in tears every time I thought about it.

What is the last movie you watched and loved?
Mr. Peabody and Sherman….  Was at the movies  yesterday.

What would you consider a “perfect date”?
I’m a romantic. Give me a special romantic dinner in a quiet dark restaurant followed by a walk and slow dancing…

What are you currently working on?
I’m putting the final touches on book five in the series, Eternal Life, in addition to two novels in two other series.  Sins of a Man is a three book saga and Candy is the first book in my new racing series.
